About the league
In 2024, the OQSL entered its 16th season and remained a vibrant recreational Ottawa-based softball league for 2SLGBTQI+ individuals and their allies. We dedicate this league to fostering skill development in a fun, secure, and social environment, welcoming players of all skill levels.

2025 Elections
Each year, the current Executive Committee collaborates with the entire league to ensure that the right Executive Officers and Team Captains lead us to success.
The Executive Committee and Team Captains play a vital role in maintaining the success of our inclusive, healthy, and fun softball league.
OPEN POSITIONS
Executive Committee Positions
Starting next year, the Promotions and Events Coordinator role, currently held by Bradley Turcotte, and the Treasurer role, currently held by Dallas Tran, will become vacant. Elected candidates for either role will serve a 2-year term, covering the 2025 and 2026 seasons. The roles will be up for re-election for the 2027 season.
The Promotions and Events Coordinator maintains the league’s public image and promoting endorsed events, where as the Treasurer ensures the League’s financial stability through ethical management of the operational budget.
Team Captain Positions
The number of Team Captain positions varies each year due to reappointments, resignations, vacancies, and other factors. The Executive Committee appoints captains for a 1-year term.
Captains are responsible for organizing their teams, attending Captain Meetings, and participating in the Skills and Drills assessment prior to the start of the new season. Additionally, they take part in the player draft process, host team socials, and, most importantly, promote good sportsmanship and fair play among all members.
As we near our 17th season, several eligible members have been nominated by their peers. The election to choose our new Executive Committee Officers will take place from October 29 to November 4, 2024. All current members will receive voting instructions and the list of candidates. Candidate profiles will be available on our website for 10 days before the election begins.
The newly elected Executive Committee officers will be announced in December 2024, with Team Captains being introduced in Spring 2025.

Drag & Balls
On August 24, 2024, the highly anticipated Drag & Balls charity softball event took place and rallied support for Bruce House, a vital organization dedicated to providing services and support to individuals living with HIV-AIDS. The OQSL proudly supports this yearly charity softball event to support Bruce House. You can find pictures from our previous year’s editions here.
